This CGR review of V8 Superstars Racing on PS3 has gameplay from V8 Superstars Racing on Playstation 3 showing V-8 Super Stars Racing game play in HD. Race cars in the game include BMW M3, M5 and 550 as well as Audi RS4 and Jaguar. There are four different difficulty settings and a “simulation” mode, but it’s all basically arade style driving and fairly easy at that. Graphics are great for a download game and audio quality with surround sound is excellent.

Classic Game Room reviews PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES for Nintendo DS from PopCap Games. The Pop Cap PC classic makes an excellent Nintendo DS release that works well with the touch screen and stylus control. Graphics are lacking compared to iPad, PC and Xbox 360 but the gameplay is the same. Play through an adventure mode and unlock new plants, challenge friends in a Versus mode and play mini-games. Plants vs. Zombies is fun no matter what game console or platform you play it on. This lackluster port of Fatal Fury for the Mega Drive is from Takara and was released in 1993 for Sega Genesis (Megadrive) and features slower gameplay as well as muddy graphics and awful music. Couldn’t the Genesis do more? Hell yes, which is why this is so disappointing. It’s as if they were trying to make the NeoGeo look better, which it did, but still… come on! This port of the game for Genesis is terrible and should just be avoided today. Download Fatal Fury for PS3 or Wii or pick it up on Neo Geo or Playstation 2 instead.

Nintendo’s Gameboy may have cornered the portable gaming market in the early nineties, but that didn’t stop Tiger Electronics trying to nab a piece of the pie. By combining a touchscreen with a huge unwieldy case and woefully underpowered hardware, they created the Game.com! Which is pronounced “Game com” as the dot is silent for some reason. Several high-profile games were ported over to the Game.com, including Resident Evil and Duke Nukem. There’s even a version of the fairly obscure Sega game Fighters Megamix. All of them ended up as semi-playable messes. Excitingly, the Game.com ramps up the excitement of action games by using its unique hardware to add motion blur to moving graphics! Which is a lie advertisers may have come up with to try and gloss over the fact that the screen is almost useless. An modem attachment was made to allow the Game.com to access the internet. It was text only. You can imagine how well that worked, particularly as the manual gave wrong instructions for setting it up…
