Just uninstall the drivers for your old graphics card before physically installing the new one. That’s all.

And yeah, the manual could have been clearer than that. I’m surprised it didn’t have instructions.

I assume that your old graphics card is built into your motherboard.

If that is the case, you need to access your bios, to disable the card, and also remove the old video drivers in windows. Once in your bios you need to find where the video/graphics adapter option is, and choose to disable it.

To get into your bios you have to hit the right key right as the computer is starting up. It is usually either F2, escape, delete, or cntrl-escape.

Caution: you should be very careful about what you change in your bios! Bios settings are usually left to professionals.

Did you install a new graphics card? Or are you now using a graphics card and want to disable onboard graphics?
If you put in a new graphics card you have to uninstall the drivers for the old one first.
    Go to Device Manager
Click the + sign by display adapter
Double Click on the name of the card
Go to the driver tab and click uninstall.
Shut down your PC and unplug it
Open your PC take out the old card, put in the new card.
    Start the computer
Install the new drivers either from the CD or better go to the manufacturer’s website and download the latest drivers for your card.
    Install the new drivers.

Onboard graphics have to be disabled in the BIOS.

if you had onboard graphics and now are adding a pci-e video card you may need to get into the bios to disable the onboard graghics…most of the time it is done automatically…but if it doesnt do it you have to enter the bios and manually disable the onboard graghics….then your new vid card will work….

if your just swapping cards uninstall the old card and drivers, put new card in and load drivers from the cd…..
